Showerthought: I used to think a full day of prep was a waste of time

For the first five years, I'd roll up to a job and just start laying planks, maybe sweeping a bit first. Then I did a big glue-down job in Phoenix where the slab felt dusty. I spent a whole morning just cleaning, grinding a few high spots, and putting down primer. The install went so smooth, I finished two hours early. Now I always block out the first three hours just for prep, no matter what. How much time do you guys usually set aside for floor prep before you even think about the first piece?

Three hours just to prep? That's a whole morning gone before you even start the real work. Sometimes you just gotta get in there and lay it down, you know?

Seriously though... is the prep work really that important? Feels like overkill for most things.

Man, @gonzalez.rowan, that reminds me of the time I skipped prep and a whole section bubbled up.
