TIL my total square footage installed last quarter hit 45,000
I was doing my books last night and the number just jumped out at me. That's mostly residential work, a mix of LVP and engineered hardwood across maybe 15 different jobs. I run a two-man crew, and we don't do crazy commercial gigs, so hitting that felt huge. It got me thinking about the trade-off between speed and quality. On one hand, pushing that volume means you're making good money and staying busy, which is the whole point. On the other, I know there were a couple of days where we were rushing to finish a glue-down job and I wasn't 100% happy with the seam taping. Do you guys aim for a certain footage goal each month, or do you just take what comes and focus solely on doing it right, no matter how long it takes?

My buddy's crew hit 60k once and the callbacks killed their profit. Speed is a trap.

Interesting point from @tyler_white42, but speed doesn't have to mean sloppy work. A good system balances pace with quality checks along the way. Rushing to finish just creates more problems later, like those callbacks. Getting it right the first time is what actually protects your profit.
