Tried wet-setting LVP on a concrete slab in Houston and it backfired hard
Had a job off I-10 last month where the slab had crazy moisture issues. Client didn't want to wait for a full moisture test so I figured I'd wet-set the LVP with a vapor barrier glue. Three days later I came back to check and the planks were curling at the seams like potato chips. Lesson learned: you can't skip the calcium chloride test no matter how much the customer pushes. Any of you guys ever lose money rushing a moisture check?

I read somewhere that Houston slabs are basically sponges because of the clay soil and high water table. Apparently even a vapor barrier glue can't stop the moisture from wicking up if you don't test first. I've heard guys say the calcium chloride test is cheap insurance compared to ripping out a whole floor. Sucks you had to learn the hard way but at least you can warn the next client.

Bet @jennifersmith that's still better than skimping on sealer and getting efflorescence everywhere.
