Unpopular opinion: I prefer hand-cut transitions over pre-made ones.
They just fit better on uneven subfloors.

Sounds like a lot of work for a floor. Most people don't even look down that close.

Yeah, most people don't look close, but I notice every little thing in my own house. I spent a whole weekend trying to get a door to stop sticking and it still bugs me. Once you see a flaw you just can't unsee it.

Totally get that! Had a brutal spot last year where laminate met vinyl planks with a big height difference. Grabbed a piece of spare flooring and a jigsaw to custom shape a reducer. It took some time, but that thing slid right into place like a puzzle piece. You just can't beat a transition that's made for the exact gap you've got. The pre-bent ones from the store would have left ugly spaces for sure.
