Bought a $300 floral cooler dehumidifier. Total waste.

Saw it online, thought it would help my lilies last longer. Installed it in the shop cooler last month. Ran it for three weeks straight. My electric bill jumped $40 and the flowers looked exactly the same. Anyone have a better trick for humidity control?

Did you try just using a small fan? I read that air movement can be just as important as pulling moisture out. A cheap box fan on low might circulate the air enough to stop condensation without that huge energy draw. Some flower shop forums said they use a basic dehumidifier bucket with those moisture-absorbing crystals you can buy at a hardware store, way cheaper to run.

Tried a fan first in my basement and it just moved damp air around. Those crystal buckets barely made a dent when the humidity was really high. Ended up getting a small energy star dehumidifier for the worst corner. It costs a bit to run but actually works, no more wet walls. The fan helps spread the dry air it makes, so I use both now.

Fans just stir up musty air, you need to actually remove the water.
