Saw a clever use of native grasses in a display at the Denver Botanic Gardens

They mixed blue grama and little bluestem with sunflowers, which held up way better than filler fern in the dry heat. Anyone have other drought-tolerant combos that work for arrangements?

Honestly, is this for a fancy event or just your kitchen table? Seems like a lot of work for something that's gonna die in a week anyway.

Three days is actually the average lifespan for most cut tulips if you trim the stems properly and change the water daily. I think @christopher_wilson has a point about the effort though. A full table centerpiece with forty stems and all that arranging takes maybe an hour or more, which is a lot for something that might not last the whole week. For a dinner party it makes perfect sense, but for daily enjoyment a simple grocery store bunch does the job just fine.
