Found out food trucks make more on breakfast than lunch in Philly

I was looking at some sales data from a buddy who runs a cart near Rittenhouse Square. He said his breakfast rush brings in 40% more cash than lunch, which totally surprised me. I always figured lunch was the big money maker for mobile food spots. He makes bank on egg sandwiches and hash browns from 6 to 9 AM. Anyone else run a breakfast menu and see similar numbers?

Not really buying it. Lunch crowds are way bigger and they spend more per person, a breakfast egg sandwich tops out at like 8 bucks while lunch can push 15 with combos and drinks. Plus the morning prep is brutal, you gotta be up at 4am to get the grill hot and eggs cracking, most people dont have that hustle. If breakfast was really that good every food truck in the city would be doing it instead of fighting for lunch spots.

Yeah fair point, @laura_white99, you got me thinking. I used to think breakfast was the golden ticket for food trucks, but the numbers on lunch sales are hard to argue with. That early morning grind to make an extra few bucks just doesn't seem worth it compared to a solid lunch rush.
