PSA: A customer's weird comment made me change my whole taco truck setup
Honestly, this guy at the Portland Saturday Market last month told me my 'El Diablo' chorizo tacos were 'too symmetrical' and it threw off the 'street food vibe'. Ngl, I laughed at first, but then I realized I was arranging every single taco with the same exact toppings in the same order. Now I just do a messy, quick scoop of each thing and sales actually went up. Has anyone else gotten a piece of feedback that sounded silly but ended up being kinda right?

That whole "too perfect" thing is so real. My buddy runs a coffee cart and used to wipe down the counter after every single customer. Some regular told him it felt like a hospital, not a coffee stop. Now he lets the spilled sugar and a few empty cups hang out, and people actually linger and chat more. It's weird how a little bit of mess makes a place feel lived in.

Stopped wiping down the counter immediately after every customer at my old bookstore cafe. Left a few coffee rings on the tables and let some sugar packets pile up by the register. People started staying an extra 20 minutes to read or chat with each other. The place felt less like a showroom and more like somewhere you could actually relax and be yourself.

Yeah, that makes a lot of sense. It's like the mess tells people it's okay to relax. I'm curious, when you changed your setup, did you notice a different type of customer coming by? Like, were people more willing to just hang out and not feel rushed?
