The taco truck near my work went from a ghost town to a line around the block in like two weeks
Two Fridays ago, I walked up and was the only person there, which was weird for lunch. The guy running it looked super bummed. This past Friday, I saw a line of maybe 20 people. The difference? He put up a simple chalkboard sign that said 'Free chips & salsa with every order.' That's it. He told me he was about to pack it in before he tried the sign. Has anyone else seen a tiny change make a huge difference for a truck?

The pizza place on 5th Street had the same problem for months. They were always empty, even with good reviews online. The owner finally started putting a single slice on a small paper plate right by the door with a toothpick in it. Just a free sample for anyone walking by. I mean, it cost him maybe fifty cents, but suddenly people were stopping to try it and then going inside. Last weekend there was a wait for a table. Sometimes you just gotta give people a literal taste.

Wait, is that even allowed with health rules? I mean giving out open food on the street seems like it would get shut down fast here. Maybe it works in some towns, but I'd be kinda grossed out by a slice just sitting out in the open air all day. Flies and dust, you know? There's gotta be a better way to do samples that's more clean.
