How a beeping relic from 2010 keeps my runs injury-free

I pulled out my old chest strap heart monitor from 2010 after knee pain ruined my runs. This thing looks like a tech dinosaur and beeps like a smoke alarm. But seeing my heart rate in real time changed everything. I noticed that when my heart rate hits 150, my knees start to complain. So now I keep it below that, and no more pain. It's stupid simple compared to modern apps that need charging every day. The battery lasts ages, and you can still find them cheap online. Honestly, this old gadget taught me more about my limits than any trainer. If you've got one gathering dust, try it for a safer workout.

Love how @norag38's shin splint story fits with the knee pain from the post. Both injuries really come from pushing past what your body can handle that day. It proves sometimes the best tech just tells you to slow down.

My 2011 Polar strap helped me stop shin splints by tracking heart rate.
