My belt clip pedometer from 2005 beats smartphone apps for daily motivation

I dug out my old pedometer from when I first started walking for health. This thing just clips on your belt and counts steps, no fuss. I remember how it kept me honest during my lunch breaks at work. Modern apps drain my phone battery and buzz with notifications I don't need. My tip is to reset it every morning and aim for a simple goal, like 10,000 steps. It's bare bones, but that's why it works for me. Fancy tech today just overcomplicates the basic act of moving more.

Remember when gadgets lasted longer than two years? My 2005 pedometer has outlived three smartphones already.

Totally get this! I read somewhere that simple fitness tools have higher user satisfaction. Apps bombard you with badges and leaderboards that feel like homework. My cousin still uses her clip-on pedometer and says the single number keeps her motivated without stress. Fancy tech adds clutter when all you need is a basic count. Sometimes old school just gets the job done.
