My dad insisted I keep the original box for my Game Boy Color

He said it would be worth something someday, and I rolled my eyes. Just found a complete-in-box one from 1999 selling for over $300 online. Anyone else have a parent who gave weirdly accurate tech advice?

My mom made me keep the box for my original iPod mini... it's still in her attic. Did your dad have a specific reason, like he collected things himself?

People are way overthinking this. It's not some deep psychological thing, it's just old people being weird about stuff. My grandpa kept the box for his cordless drill for twenty years. Had nothing to do with sentimental value, he just thought maybe he'd need to return it someday. Dad probably just didn't want to throw something away that still had a purpose. Not everything has to be some profound family trait. Sometimes a box is just a box.
