My old Palm Pilot cost me a week's pay but kept my college schedule from falling apart.

I spent about $400 on it in 2001, and syncing it with my desktop felt like magic. Anyone else have a pre-smartphone organizer they couldn't live without?

Honestly, my Casio databank watch was my whole system. Typing in phone numbers with that tiny crown felt like a secret code, you know?

Oh man, the Palm Pilot. I saved up for a Handspring Visor and that clicky graffiti alphabet felt like the future. I kept my whole life in that thing, from class notes to my work schedule at the campus library. That sync cable was a lifeline, and losing it was a full blown crisis. It just felt so solid, like a tiny brick of pure order.

@the_sarah those Casio databank watches were no joke. I had a friend who swore by hers and I always felt like she was in some secret club. For me the Handspring Visor was the same thing. That graffiti alphabet was like learning a second language but once you got it you were untouchable. I had my whole class schedule color coded in there and would zap appointments to friends with the IR port. Lost the sync cable once on a road trip and spent the whole weekend stressed out until I found an electronics store that had one. It really did feel like a tiny brick of pure order, you just understood where everything was.
