My old Palm Pilot needed a new battery and it took me a whole weekend to find one that fit
I found my old Palm IIIxe in a box and wanted to see if it still worked, but the battery was totally dead. I looked online and tried three different stores before finding a weird off-brand replacement that actually fit right. Has anyone else had to hunt down parts for really old handhelds like this?

It's just a battery, not some lost treasure. People get way too into the drama of finding old parts. Maybe it's just me but spending a whole weekend on that seems like a lot. It's a gadget that's been dead for twenty years. The hunt sounds more frustrating than fun, honestly.

Yeah I actually just read this article about the guy who spent like six months trying to find a specific capacitor for an old Game Boy. They had to go through maybe twenty different eBay sellers and even message people in Japan to track down a working one. It's wild how much effort goes into these things, but I get why people do it. There's something satisfying about bringing something back from the dead, you know? Like you're saving a little piece of history, even if it's just a plastic toy from the 90s. My cousin's into that whole vintage tech thing too, and he says the hunt is what keeps him going, not so much the actual playing after.

Finding parts for old tech is a whole scavenger hunt now. It feels like you're digging through digital archaeology just to get something to turn on. The hunt is half the fun, though.
