My Tamagotchi from 1998 just cost me $40 in new batteries and a weird eBay part

It died again after a week, but honestly, hearing that little beep again was worth every penny. Anyone still have one of these things kicking around?

Man, that's dedication right there. @smith.matthew, do you actually think it's a scam or are you just bitter because your old one kicked the bucket on you? Curious what part was worth hunting down on eBay for a twenty year old toy.
