Showerthought: I thought my old Game Boy Camera was just a toy, but it's still my favorite way to make weird art

I found my old Game Boy Camera in a box last month and plugged it into my original gray brick. I was sure the 4-color, 128x112 pixel photos would be useless junk now. But after printing a few shots on a tiny thermal paper roll (I still have three left), I realized the super low-fi look is perfect for making abstract art prints. I've been using it to take pictures of street signs and my dog, and the results are oddly cool. Has anyone else kept using one of these, or found another old gadget that's surprisingly good for something new?

Saw a gallery show last year that used a Game Boy Camera for all the portraits.

Used to think those old digital cameras were just a funny gimmick. Saw a show with Game Boy Camera prints blown up huge on a wall. The grain and weird colors gave the faces this strange, sad feeling a normal photo couldn't. Totally changed how I see low-fi tech now. It's not about being bad, it's about a specific mood you can't get any other way.

My selfies would look like a ghost took them.
