That weekend my old Game Boy Color saved a 6 hour car ride

I mean, it was last summer and we got stuck in traffic on I-95 near Richmond for like 3 hours. My phone was dead and my kid was losing it in the back seat. I dug out my old Game Boy Color from the glovebox, the one with the scratched up screen and Pokemon Yellow still in it. He had no idea what it was at first, but after I showed him how to save and load, he was hooked for the whole ride. It survived a drop on the floor and the batteries lasted the whole trip somehow. Now he asks to play it every weekend which is funny. Has anyone else had an old gadget come through in a weird situation like that?

Dug my old GBA SP out of a junk drawer last Thanksgiving when my nephew's tablet died and he was about to have a meltdown at dinner. He thought the SP was some kind of retro relic until I fired up Super Mario Advance and he went completely silent for like an hour. The screen had this terrible scratch right in the middle but he didn't care at all. @paul_mason12 I swear those old Nintendo batteries had some kind of magic in them, mine lasted through a whole plane ride last year even after sitting in a drawer for like five years. Now I gotta bring it to family gatherings or everyone gets mad at me for "ruining the tradition.
