TIL my old iPod Nano still holds a charge after 15 years

Found it in a box while moving. Plugged it in on a whim and the screen lit right up. Anyone else have a gadget that just refuses to die?

Damn, that's wild. My dad still uses the same cordless drill he bought in the late 90s. Thing is built like a tank, ugly beige plastic and all. The battery is totally shot, but it works fine plugged into the wall. He refuses to get a new one because it just won't quit. Makes all the new stuff feel cheap.

Yeah that's the thing about those old cordless drills, they were basically corded drills with a battery pack slapped on. The motor and gears are the same heavy duty stuff. New ones are way lighter and actually designed to be cordless, but they do feel less solid sometimes. Your dad's drill running on wall power is basically using its original design lol.

Honestly I used to be one of those people who thought old tools were just outdated junk, but your dad's setup kinda changed my mind. Seeing that beige beast still running after all these years is pretty impressive. @mason.cole is right though, those old ones were basically corded tools with a battery tacked on, so running it on wall power is just going back to its roots. It makes you wonder why companies stopped making stuff that lasts that long in the first place. Now I kinda wanna find an old drill like that just to have something reliable.
