Found a stat that changed how I look at furnace temps

I was reading through an old issue of the American Foundry Society journal my mentor gave me, and I came across a stat that said nearly 30% of casting defects come from improper moisture control in the sand. That surprised me because I always figured it was mostly about metal temperature or gating. Now I've been checking moisture levels way more carefully on our floor, and it's actually cut down on scrap by about 15% in the last two months. Has anyone else run into a simple change like that that made a big difference?

Moisture's the thing nobody talks about enough.

15% scrap reduction just from checking moisture? That's like finding out your car runs better with gas in it.
