Just realized my foundry floor changed after we switched to dry silica

I've been working at the same shop in Detroit for about 8 years now. When we switched from wet mixing to dry silica sand for our molds back in 2021, the floor texture totally changed over time. The dust buildup got way worse and the traction went down after about 6 months, which I think caused more slips than the old method ever did. Everyone else here says dry is safer, but I'm not convinced after watching the floors degrade like that. Has anyone else dealt with a similar shift in floor conditions after changing your sand mix?

Has anyone checked if the dust is reacting with moisture on the floor to make it slicker?

Is the dust doing chemistry experiments on my floor now?
