Finally switched from a plastic to a metal water bottle and it's night and day
I carried this old Nalgene for like 5 years (since college) and it worked fine but always had this weird plastic taste no matter how much I scrubbed it. Picked up a Hydro Flask at Target last week for $35 and honestly my water tastes like nothing now, which is what you want right? Has anyone else made a similar swap and noticed a big difference?

My buddy Mike made the same switch last year and he swore his Nalgene started growing stuff in the threads that he couldn't get out no matter what. He got a metal one from REI and said the first sip of cold water felt like he was drinking from a mountain spring or something. Kept telling everyone how the insulation alone made him drink more water because it stayed cold for hours. Now he's one of those guys who brings his bottle everywhere and gets annoyed if someone touches it. Kinda funny how a water bottle can change your whole hydration game like that.

You know what, I used to roll my eyes at the whole metal bottle hype, but Mike's story actually makes a lot of sense to me now, @james995. Mold in the threads is a nasty surprise I never even considered.

@rowanw31 yep the mold thing is real, get a straw cleaning brush for your new one before it starts too
