Warning: overheard two plumbers at the break room yesterday talking about cheap PVC glue failures
They said a $3 bottle from the dollar store caused a joint to blow out mid-wall in a new build near Oak Street last month, so if you're doing any wet work this weekend, stick to the name brand stuff or you might end up ripping out drywall.

Oh wow I totally thought cheap glue would be fine but now I'm definitely sticking to the name brand for anything behind drywall.

Learned that lesson myself the hard way last year. Cheap glue let go after six months and I had to rip out a whole section of drywall. The extra few bucks for the good stuff is nothing compared to having to redo the work. Name brand or nothing when it's going to be hidden behind a wall. Just not worth the gamble.
