Found a simple timer trick that stopped me from overbilling clients
I was always losing track of time on small dev tasks and undercharging. Started setting a physical kitchen timer for 25 minutes per task block and it forced me to stop obsessing over tiny details. Has anyone else tried time boxing for their freelance work?
The problem with rigid time boxing is that it ignores how creative work actually happens. Sometimes the best solution comes after 30 minutes of head scratching, not a neat 25 minute window. You risk cutting off that productive flow just because a timer beeped. Also, clients pay for results not for your time management system. If you deliver a half-baked feature because the timer ran out, that reflects poorly on you.
