Showerthought: My 'good enough' portfolio site cost me a job in Denver last month

I lost a solid contract because the client said my site took 8 seconds to load on their phone. I spent $20 on a basic speed test tool and fixed the biggest image files, which cut that time in half. Anyone else get caught out by something simple like site speed?

That's brutal, man. Site speed is a total deal breaker now. People just bounce if it takes more than a couple seconds. It's crazy how one huge image can wreck everything. Good on you for fixing it, but sucks it cost you the job first.

Ever feel like you're the only one who misses the obvious stuff? I mean, I once spent hours on code when the problem was just a missing comma. Maybe my brain just skips over the simple fixes.
