Vent: The coffee shop on 5th Ave has a 'freelancer discount' now

Went to grab a coffee at Brew & Go yesterday. Saw a sign for 10% off if you show your freelance website. Felt weird, like they're trying to buy our business with a tiny discount. Makes me think they see us as desperate. Anyone else feel patronized by stuff like that?

But isn't it possible they're just trying to remind people they exist in a crowded market? I get that the "limited time" thing feels played out, but a lot of small businesses can't afford to run fancy marketing campaigns. If a simple email brings back a few customers who forgot about them, that's a win in my book. I think we're too quick to call it lazy without knowing their actual strategy or budget. Sometimes what looks lazy is just practical for a team of like three people.

Yeah but anna_carter53, is it even working? Like they run the same "limited time" deal every other month... feels pretty lazy. I just ignore those emails now.
