My ancient blender gave up mid-smoothie this morning
It made a sad grinding noise and just stopped, leaving me with a chunky mess. I ended up using a fork and a bowl to mash the banana and oats together, which actually worked fine. Anyone have a good blender brand that won't die after a couple years?

Oh man, the fork and bowl method... I've been there. My last blender died trying to crush ice and just sort of whimpered. I used a potato masher and a lot of anger to finish the job. It felt like I was making baby food for a giant. I'm using a cheap one now that sounds like it's going to lift off the counter.

Totally feel that. Watched my old one smoke a little while trying to blend frozen fruit. Ended up using a whisk like some kind of caveman.

Did your friend's blender actually catch fire? Mine survived with just a little smoke and a burnt toast smell, but I had to toss the smoothie.
