Overheard someone at the grocery store say they freeze leftover tomato paste in ice cube trays and it clicked for me

I always threw half a can of tomato paste in the trash because a recipe never uses the whole thing. Then last Tuesday I was standing in the pasta aisle and this older lady told her friend she scoops it into teaspoon portions in a silicone tray and pops them out. Cost me like $3 for a tray at the dollar store. Now I got 12 little cubes ready for my next chili. Anyone else got a stupid simple trick for something that always goes bad before you finish it?

My friend Jen started doing this with heavy cream. She freezes it in tablespoon cubes and drops one in her coffee every morning. Said she used to throw away half a carton every week.

Wait, does the frozen cube change the texture or make the coffee watery as it melts? I used to do the same thing with buttermilk but switched to just buying the tiny cartons since @laura_white99 mentioned it, they're like 50 cents more but way easier. Pro tip though, if you freeze them, pop the cubes out after theyre solid and toss em in a ziploc bag so they dont soak up freezer smells. I did the tablespoon trick for years and it works fine as long as you stir it quick enough.
