Watched my friend throw out a whole chicken carcass the other day
She roasted a chicken, carved it, and tossed the bones. I asked her why. She said there was nothing left. I took the bones home, simmered them with an onion and some water for a few hours. Got a full quart of broth for free. Anyone else have a good trick for using up scraps?

Ever notice how many people just don't see the value in basic stuff anymore?

Totally get what you mean, @robin_jones. I used to feel the same way. I started just fixing my own leaky faucet with a cheap wrench instead of calling a plumber. Same with mending clothes instead of tossing them. That basic fix-it skill saves money and just feels solid. People miss how good it feels to solve simple problems yourself.

What's the first simple skill you could learn this week?
