TIL a neighbor in Springfield used old pallet wood for his garage wall and it looks amazing.
He said he got all the wood for free from a local warehouse and it only took him a weekend to put it up, which makes me think I should try something similar instead of buying new drywall.

Totally agree, that's such a great look. I did the same thing with an accent wall in my den using old fence pickets. Just gave them a light sanding and a coat of clear poly, and the character of the weathered wood is perfect.

My fence picket project ended up looking like a sad beaver attack, but @caseyflores is right about that aged look.

Nice! The clear poly really lets the natural wear show through. I've seen people use old barn wood for headboards too, same kind of vibe. That gray weathered look just gets better with age.
