My neighbor told me I was stripping my hardwood the wrong way for 6 years
Turns out you're supposed to follow the grain of the wood, not just go back and forth however you want. I redid a small section in my hallway last weekend and the difference is night and day - has anyone else had their whole cleaning routine flipped by someone's casual comment?

Stripping with the grain makes sense, but six years of going random probably wore down your finish unevenly.

@charles508 I gotta push back a little here - maybe those six years taught him something about patience or the right techniques to look for later. Isn't that kind of experience just part of learning the hard way?
