Spent 4 hours looking for a water shutoff valve that was behind a fake wall panel in a 1950s house

Found it after my neighbor mentioned his uncle hid one behind a loose piece of trim in a similar house, has anyone else dealt with random hidden access points in old homes?

Behind a fake wall panel" that is just ridiculous. Honestly who thinks that's a good idea? It's like the original owners were playing hide and seek with the plumbing. I've found a shutoff under a pile of old newspapers in a crawlspace and another one tucked behind a loose floorboard in a closet. People just did whatever back then with no thought for the future. Makes you wonder what other secrets are hiding in these old walls.

I read somewhere that an old house had a shutoff valve hidden behind a porcelain toilet tank.
