Tried sealing my own driveway with that rubberized sealer from Lowe's and now the whole thing peeled up like a sunburn after one winter

I followed the directions to the letter but now I'm wondering if the old asphalt was just too far gone or if I should have used the oil-based stuff instead... anyone else had this split decision on sealers?

Oh man, I feel your pain! I did my own driveway last spring and it looked like a bad sunburn with a side of peeling paint by August. Guess my asphalt and I both have commitment issues.
