My buddy's contract advice from a bar napkin got me sued for $4,000

Took some "simple" handshake deal advice from my friend Mike at a BBQ last June and it ended up costing me $4,000 in small claims court because I didn't put anything in writing.

Man, that "handshake deal advice" hit home. I lost $2,500 a few years back because I trusted a buddy who said we didn't need a written agreement. The judge basically told me verbal contracts are worthless if the other guy denies everything. After that, I started writing up a simple one-page contract for any deal over a hundred bucks. Just a few lines about what each person is supposed to do and what happens if someone backs out. It's saved me a ton of hassle since then.

Ngl @the_logan, my buddy lost twice that on a handshake for concert tickets.
