PSA: I lost $400 to a fake 'legal document prep' service online
I was trying to handle a simple name change after getting married and found a site that promised to fill out all the court forms for $50. They took my money, sent me a generic PDF anyone could download, and then ghosted me when I asked for help. I ended up having to pay the $350 court filing fee anyway, plus wasted hours. The site looked totally legit with official looking seals and everything. Has anyone else gotten scammed by one of these services, and is there any way to get the money back?
