Update: I paid $150 for a consultation with a local lawyer about a neighbor's fence
Honestly, I was worried about a property line issue when my neighbor put up a new fence last month. The lawyer looked at my deed and a survey from when I bought the house, which cost me about $400 years ago. He explained the local setback rules in about 30 minutes and wrote a simple letter for me to send. It clarified everything without starting a fight. Has anyone else had a lawyer write a letter like this to solve a neighbor dispute?

Yeah, @betty_walker, that letter is cheaper than a new survey for sure.

Wait, $400 for a survey years ago? That's wild, mine was over a grand last year. The lawyer fee actually seems okay compared to that. Smart move getting a letter written up, way better than just yelling over the fence.
