Finally found that stupid piece of chert I've been hunting for months
I've been looking for a specific type of banded chert in the local creek beds since last fall, with zero luck. Yesterday, after a heavy rain, I spotted a flash of red and gray in a pile of washed-up gravel. It was the exact piece, about the size of my thumb, with perfect concentric rings. I actually yelled "gotcha" at a pile of rocks like a total weirdo. Anyone else have a specific mineral they hunted forever and finally found?

Sounds like you got way too excited over a rock. It's just a piece of chert, man. People spend months looking for all sorts of things that actually matter. I get having a hobby, but yelling at gravel seems like a bit much. Maybe find something more important to hunt for.
