My kid's school project on igneous rocks turned into a family feud

Honestly, I was shocked when my kid brought home a project on igneous rocks. Tbh, the teacher barely covered how they form from lava. Ngl, my spouse said it was pointless and wanted to skip it. But I dragged everyone to a volcanic site nearby. Now my kid won't stop talking about basalt and granite. My parents think it's a phase, but I see it as a passion. Geology should be a family thing, not a fight. If you don't get that, you're part of the problem.

Adults shut down curiosity way too often.

It happens everywhere, not just in schools. I see it at work when apprentices ask why we wire things a certain way and get told "because that's the code." But how do you learn the reason behind the rules without asking?

In my niece's science fair last month, she asked if plants feel pain. Her teacher brushed it off with 'just focus on the project.' That response SHUTS down real learning. Kids need to explore weird questions to understand the world. When adults dismiss them, we lose future scientists and thinkers. It's a huge problem in how we teach curiosity.
