Shoutout to the 50th piece of petrified wood in my collection
I just logged number 50, all from the same creek bed in Arizona, and it hit me how much variety one spot can hold. I used to think you had to travel far to find good specimens, but this proves local geology is full of surprises. Anyone else have a favorite hunting ground that just keeps giving?

My local gravel pit is the same way.

What exactly do they do that's the same? Is it the hours they keep, like only being open weekdays from 7 to 3? Or is it more about the pricing, where they charge way more for a small load than a full truck? I've seen pits that make it almost impossible for a homeowner to get a couple yards without paying a fortune.

Yeah, the small load pricing is brutal. Ever find one that doesn't do that?
