Spent last Wednesday picking bits of mica out of my sandwich after eating lunch on an outcrop
I sat down on what I thought was a nice flat granite surface near the bank of the Colorado River, and by the time I got back to the truck I had shiny flakes all through my turkey and Swiss, so has anyone else accidentally eaten half the rock they were studying before noticing?

I mean, maybe it's just me but I feel like mica picking could be a solid field snack strategy if you think about it. Granite's got larger flakes that are easier to spot and pick out, but you ever get those fine-grained metamorphic rocks with tiny mica slivers? Those are way worse, they blend right in with the bread crumbs. Plus a little bit of silica is probably good for your teeth like natural toothpaste or something. Idk, I'd rather deal with mica than the time I bit into a sample that had a bit of lichen still on it. That green taste just lingers.

Really though, who packs mica-heavy snacks on purpose?
