Vent: My entire field sample from the Cascade foothills got soaked in a surprise downpour last Tuesday.

The rain ruined my notes and turned the shale I was collecting into a muddy mess... has anyone else had a day that bad and managed to salvage anything?

Did you try drying the shale out slowly, or was it too far gone?

Remember my uncle tried that slow dry method on some wet shale for a garden path. It still crumbled like old cheese. Makes me wonder if some batches are just doomed from the start, like michaels95 might be finding out. He ended up using the pieces as filler in the back where it didn't matter. Whole thing was a mess but the plants didn't seem to mind.
