A retired guy at the studio said he misses the smell of hot beeswax
We were cleaning up after a session and he mentioned how everyone uses synthetic wax now. It hit me that I've never even smelled the real stuff, which is kind of a shame. What other old-school materials have we lost along the way?

Real rabbit skin glue had a wild smell too.

I was reading about this the other day actually, how old school tattoo artists used to mix their own pigments with stuff like wood ash and even ground up plastics. It's wild to think about what they were putting under people's skin back then. The beeswax thing is interesting too because I guess it was the main base for a lot of ointments and aftercare products before petroleum jelly took over. It must have had a really distinct, warm smell compared to the sterile stuff we use now. There's probably a bunch of traditional craft supplies that just got phased out for being too messy or inconsistent, but they had their own charm.
