Shoutout to the guy at the Tacoma studio who told me to switch from a 3/4 inch to a 1 inch blow tube
My gather control went from shaky to rock solid in about two weeks, because the extra weight gave me way more leverage to fight the heat, so what other small tool changes have made a big difference for you?

Oh man, that's awesome it helped, but gotta point out it's the opposite for most folks! A heavier tube actually fights you less, it's the inertia that smooths things out. It doesn't give you more leverage to fight, it just makes your movements slower and steadier. My big change was switching to a lighter punty, felt like I had way more control over the piece.

Wait, so I've been picturing a tiny arm wrestling match with the glass this whole time? That explains why my gather still looks like a sad potato sometimes. Honestly, switching to a graphite pad for my marver was a game changer for me, way less sticking than the steel one I had. Tbh most of my big improvements just came from finally cleaning my tools regularly, which is a boring answer but true.
