Can we talk about using a heat gun on tempered glass?
I had to remove a stuck vinyl decal from a storefront window in Phoenix last month. I tried a heat gun on low, like I would for regular glass, and the whole pane just popped into a million pieces... I thought tempered was tougher. Learned the hard way that the heat can mess with the stress inside the glass. Has anyone else had this happen, or is there a safe way to do it?

Always thought tempered glass could take the heat until mine shattered too.

Watched a buddy try it on a shower door once... sounded like a bag of popcorn going off right before it turned into a million little pieces. I guess we all have to learn that lesson the hard way, like some weird, expensive rite of passage. Makes you feel real smart standing there with a heat gun and a pile of glass cubes.

Yeah, that exact thing happened to me on a car side window. Used a heat gun to soften some old tint adhesive, heard this weird pinging sound, and the whole thing just exploded into tiny cubes. Turns out any focused heat on tempered glass messes up the internal tension.
