Showerthought: I just wasted $150 on a 'universal' glass suction cup that failed on a commercial job

The handle snapped clean off trying to lift a heavy insulated unit, and I had to scramble to rent a proper one. Has anyone found a truly reliable brand for big lifts?

Yeah, that "universal" label gets me every time. I used to grab whatever was cheap, but a bad drop changed my mind fast. Now I only trust the pro-grade stuff with a real weight rating for anything serious.

That "real weight rating" is key, so why do they even sell that junk?

Because it sells. Most people just need something that works for a light bag or a quick trip, not a full gear haul. The cheap stuff fills that gap for a casual user who would never check a weight rating anyway. It keeps costs down for the store and the buyer who doesn't need pro-level gear. Calling it junk misses the point that it serves a different, less demanding customer.
