Spent $400 on a digital level for big storefront jobs, and I'm split on it.

On one hand, it saved my back and got the mullions dead straight on a 20-foot run last week. On the other, it feels like a fancy crutch for something a good old spirit level and chalk line should do. Anyone still swear by the old ways, or is digital the only way to go now?

Tbh, that digital level sounds like a solid investment if it saved your back on a 20-foot run. Calling it a crutch is a bit harsh when it's just a better tool for the job. My old spirit level collects dust on most big commercial work now because speed and accuracy actually matter to the client. The old ways got the job done, but they also left a lot more room for error and pain.

Feel like a traitor to my old 4-foot level every time I use my laser. But watching that little red line is way better than crouching down to check a bubble for the hundredth time on a long run. My knees sure aren't complaining. Still keep the old tools in the truck though, just in case the fancy one dies on me.
