Wasted $150 on a cheap glass cutter that couldn't even score a straight line on 1/4 inch plate
Picked up a no-name cutter from a hardware store in Phoenix last month, and it dulled after like 3 cuts. Has anyone else had better luck with a specific brand that actually holds an edge?

Hang on though, I gotta push back a little. I picked up a cheapo cutter at a Harbor Freight in Tucson a few years back for like 8 bucks and it still scores clean on 1/4 inch after a hundred cuts. The trick is you gotta oil the wheel every few passes and not bear down like you're trying to chop wood. Light pressure, one smooth pull, then snap it. I've seen guys wreck a 50 dollar cutter the same way, just by pushing too hard. Could be the technique more than the tool.

Yeah, "dulled after like 3 cuts" pretty much sums up every cheap cutter I've ever touched. You basically paid for a fancy rock that got tired.
