My remote team meeting had a topic that vanished from everyone's memory
We had a video call yesterday to go over quarterly goals, and I clearly heard our manager mention layoffs as a possibility. When I brought it up in chat after, two teammates said they never heard that part, and the manager denied saying it. Now I have notes about layoffs but no record in the meeting transcript. Did I imagine a whole chunk of the conversation, or is this some kind of office glitch?

Transcription apps often miss words when the sound is bad. If your manager was talking fast or there was background noise, the word layoffs might have been cut out. I had a meeting once where the written record completely left out a key point about project changes. Our brains can piece together what we expect to hear based on context. You might have caught a related word like "budgets" and your concern filled in the rest. Look for a full recording of the call, not just the automatic text.

Heard about a similar thing from a buddy of mine. His boss definitely said something about pay cuts in a call, but later acted like it never happened. My friend still has the chat logs to prove it, though.
