Got stuck on a project until I saw a vintage matchbook collection

I was trying to make a logo for a local coffee shop and nothing felt right. Then my friend showed me his grandpa's old matchbooks from the 1950s, and the simple shapes and bold colors just clicked. Anyone else find design ideas in unexpected places like that?

Check out old diner menus or gas station signs from that era. The fonts are always super clean. I once redid a whole brand just from looking at a 1970s bowling shirt. Sometimes you gotta step away from the computer and touch real stuff.

Man, "step away from the computer and touch real stuff" hits different. I used to think all the good ideas were online. Then I found this box of my grandpa's old truck repair receipts from the 60s. The way the numbers were typed, the faded paper, it just had a feel you can't download. Totally changed how I look at design now. You gotta get your hands on the actual thing.
