Showerthought: I used to think browsing design blogs was a waste of time compared to books.

The constant flow of fresh ideas online made me see how static my old reference books really were.

Worry that design blogs keep you chasing trends instead of building skills...

But the blogs are where the skills are built, not just trends. They show you how things are done today, not in some old book. Learning from blogs means you pick up tricks that actually work for clients. If you ignore them, you risk getting left behind while everyone else moves on. It's like refusing to look at a map because you want to find your own way, but then you get lost. The key is to read with a careful eye, not just copy what you see.

Ugh, I tore my portfolio apart three times last month because of some blog posts. Ended up with a bunch of trendy layouts I hated and zero new projects to put in them. The whole time I could have been actually making things instead of just changing it again. That endless scroll really tricks you into feeling productive.
