An old timer at the Tulsa gun show told me to use a toothpick and nail polish for sight dots. It works.

My grandpa's old Colt still works too, which is more than I can say for my knees.

Hold on there, I gotta say that trick works fine for a quick fix but it's not some kind of permanent solution. In my experience, nail polish chips off pretty fast if you actually shoot the gun. A toothpick helps you get it in the right spot, sure, but I've had better luck with a tiny drop of model paint instead. Just my two cents, your mileage may vary depending on how much you actually carry or shoot.
